Build Quality

The watch is powered by a Miyota 9015 automatic movement, which is a reliable and accurate movement. It features 24 jewels, a 42-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour. The water resistance rating of 200 meters makes it suitable for swimming and diving.

The screw-down crown and caseback help ensure a tight seal, and the unidirectional rotating bezel allows for accurate timing of dives. The stainless steel case is robust and durable, with a brushed finish on the top surfaces and polished sides, adding an elegant touch to the overall design. The unidirectional rotating bezel features a ceramic insert that is highly scratch-resistant and provides a beautiful shine.

Sapphire is one of the hardest and most scratch-resistant materials used in watchmaking, which means it’s highly unlikely to get scratched or damaged in daily wear. The San Martin Submariner is equipped with a sapphire crystal and has an anti-reflective coating on the underside, which reduces glare and provides a clear view of the dial.

The dial design is almost identical to that of the Rolex Submariner, with hands and markers featuring SuperLuminova lume that make them easy to read in low light conditions.

The solid link stainless steel bracelet has a brushed finish that matches the case, and the bracelet has solid end links that fit perfectly into the case, adding to the overall solidity of the watch.

There is no doubt that the Bulova and Sturhling brand are more famous than the San Martin, thus it makes sense this two brands can sell a higher price. From the comparison table, it is easy to find out Bulova is a little overpriced. The Bulova marine start is featuring a quartz movement and only 100 m water resistant, which actually cannot be regarded as a dive watch. So let’s take a closer look to the comparison of San martin submariner and Sturhling Regatta.

This two watches are almost with same features, such as automatic movement, 200 m water resistance, and the price is very close. However when you dig deeper into the materials, you will find the difference.

The 9015 and 8215 movements are all from Miyota. 9015 movement is 24 jewel and 28800 beat, -10 to +30 seconds per day. And 8215 movement is 21 jewel, 21,600 beat, -20 to +40 seconds per day. From these brief features of this two movements, you can quickly understand which movement is better.

For the difference between sapphire glass and krysterna glass, I believe you will go for sapphire. It is difficult to say ceramic bezel insert is better or not than the aluminum, but ceramic insert is definitely more expensive than aluminum. ceramic insert is shinny, anti-scratch and the color will never fade. Rolex has switched the aluminum insert to ceramic for many decades, and you can have a clue from this.

Conclusion

The San Martin Submariner SN017 is a high-quality homage watch that offers an impressive range of features and design elements at a fraction of the cost of its Rolex inspiration. From its robust 316L stainless steel case to its reliable Miyota 9015 automatic movement and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, this watch is a great value for anyone looking for a Submariner-style watch.
